Tròn Kitchen
For the past decade, Tròn's Kitchen has grown from a husband-and-wife online business into a neighborhood destination for Japanese cuisine. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, The Lab reimagined the space with a contemporary identity while preserving the warmth and familiarity that define the brand.
Inspired by the shokudo, Japan's mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall everyday eatery, the design uses warm wood tones for a welcoming atmosphere, accented by pops of color in the storefront, outdoor benches, and ceramic tiles. The result feels both warm and welcoming like a shokudo, while embodying the funkiness of a Vietnamese eatery.
Spatial planning balances operational efficiency with customer comfort. Booth seating, flexible tables, and an expanded waiting area maximize capacity while creating a smoother dining experience.

A New Tròn
If the ground floor embodies the warm and welcoming spirit the brand is known for, the first floor brings the youthful energy of a new "Tròn" to life. Here, the palette intensifies with a signature warm red. The space splits into two zones: one lit by a playful disco ball, and the other a cozy, jazzy corner.
Together, they create a warm and energetic atmosphere that blends the intimacy of a Japanese shokudo with the funky spirit of a Vietnamese streetfood stall.
